TikTok is a highly popular social media platform. It’s for creating, sharing, and discovering short videos. The app holds over 1 billion users, and the video duration can range from 10 seconds to 10 minutes.
The great thing about TikTok is that it doesn’t have to be high-production content; you can use your creativity and create short videos.
You could either make a video that advertises what your business offers, a funny video, or a more laid-back, relaxed one.
Although TikTok contains millions of crazy, funny, and silly videos, don’t go for that if it doesn’t fit your brand.
Here are some examples of businesses’ different videos for inspiration:
If you see any hate comments, the best thing to do is ignore them. If you respond or become defensive, it may affect how people view your business. However, responding to constructive criticism can give you a positive outlook.
TikTok users dislike those who try too hard with their content. It doesn’t need to be perfect. If you mess up, then you can go with it and take advantage of your mistakes. People also don’t like a business that ‘begs’ for sympathy or sales.
The TikTok algorithm notices it as not from the app. Therefore, your views will drop significantly.
If too much goes on, people will become overwhelmed and keep scrolling. It’s fine to use them, but don’t overuse them.
Hashtags help your content reach people. Many people use #foryoupage, which has been very effective. Short captions are perfect. You don’t need to write much at all because people who use TikTok won’t read them. Ensure the hashtags and captions always fit with the videos you are posting.
TikTok rewards many accounts for engaging with the platform. This means that if you like, comment, and share other people’s videos, they are more likely to find your page and do the same.
You can create videos including your staff, friends, family, and pets. You could also involve a popular influencer with your content. Although, make sure to do research first because if a wide range of people dislikes that person, your business may receive hate.
- Educates your target audience;
- Targets future clients/customers;
- Increases audience reach;
- Grow business/brand awareness;
- Endless influencers;
- Budget-friendly.
Step one: Install TikTok from the app store.
Step two: Sign up and create an account.
Step three: Click the three lines in the top left of your page.
Step four: Click settings & privacy > Manage accounts > Switch to a business account.
Step five: Answer the questions that TikTok asks.
When you open TikTok, click on the plus towards the bottom of your screen. This will then take you to the camera with everything you need to create a post. If you want to pick how long your video is, you will see a bunch of times at the bottom above the big red button. Click on a time to select the one you want. You can also add music by clicking on the 'add sound' button at the top of the screen. This will take you to a page where you can search for the audio you want or select from the featured ones. You can also use the tools provided on the page, such as speed, filters and more.
To start recording, you can either hold the red button or go to timer > select 10s or 3s > start recording. This allows you to record hands-free.
If you want to upload a pre-made video, then click on effects. It will then show up with the most used effects, one of which is the green screen. If it is not there, click on the magnifying glass and search 'upload' or 'green screen'.
Once you have created your content, you can either press the tik in the bottom right-hand corner or it will automatically take you to the next page. Here it allows you to edit the video by giving you the options to adjust clips, sound, add text, stickers, captions, and more. Once you have edited your video, you can proceed by clicking 'next'. This will then take you to the posting page. Here, it allows you to select a cover, add a caption and mess with the privacy settings. All you need to do next is select 'post', and it will be on your page. You can also select 'drafts' if you are not finished with your post.
Remember that TikTok profiles can take time to grow. It may take several videos before one does well. Try not to feel demotivated when this happens and keep up the hard work.
