Trying To Minimise Our Own Environmental Impact as a Start-Up

We have some exciting news to share! After spending ten months working from home (in our kitchen), I am pleased to say we have settled into our new office based in the heart of Kenilworth.
For those unaware of our journey so far, LoudLocal started off during the pandemic as both myself and my partner (Leon) were made redundant. After having very little luck finding a suitable role, we decided to team up and create our own agency, mixing both my project management skills and Leon’s expertise in digital marketing. LoudLocal was born in November 2020 (but didn’t launch until April due to restrictions).
To get things started we turned our kitchen into a makeshift office. On paper it seemed a great idea, but as we started to get busier the reality set in. Trying to have a serious conversation with a potential client, whilst simultaneously tending to our 4-year-old son, teenage daughter and a very playful attention-seeking chocolate labrador (Milo) was quite a tall order. A challenge I’m sure a lot of people can relate to after the last 12 months. But by far the most difficult part was when we had onsite client meetings (something that happens a LOT in marketing) it wasn’t a great experience for them, although Milo loved all the attention.
If you told me we would have our own office by September, then I would have laughed and asked how is that even possible. But how fast things have moved has even exceeded our own expectations.
We have grown substantially in our first months of trading and it feels great to be able to be in a space where we can meet with our client's face to face.
Personally, I didn’t realise how much I missed working in the office until now. I enjoy the banter and the company of the team. Also, I can easily switch off from work when I get home, which makes a real difference.
We are now located next to Sainsbury's, off the main high street (for those who know Kenilworth). Our new office is an easy walking distance from the town centre and the local train station.
Kenilworth has a vast history, from the Old High Street to Kenilworth Castle with many independent shops and local businesses. It is situated in between Coventry and Leamington Spa with excellent transport links. It was also the scene of an escaped wallaby that made national headlines last week (no joke)
What next? Our office, which initially started as a shell, has now turned into a working environment for the team. We are currently recruiting to expand our team, which is exciting and means we can focus on more clients and really help the businesses get past the survival stage and into growth.
Although we are no longer working from home, we still bring our office mascot (Milo) into the office now and then.
So if you are in the Kenilworth area then be sure to pop in and say hello.
Thanks for reading! 😊
